Almost every New Mexican agrees that our “National Rankings in Education, Crime, and Drug Use“ are an embarrassment and are totally unacceptable.    

We have received thousands of positive comments supporting our efforts to bring the truth of our state’s National Rankings to light so that we can finally improve them.   

To make the necessary improvements, we must first acknowledge that these failures exist and have persisted for decades. 

Then we must take whatever steps are required to create the needed changes to make those improvements.

 New Mexico Ranks: 50th in the nation according to the 2026 KIDS COUNT Data Book.

Streak: Marks the 10th consecutive year the state has placed last in this specific education index category.

   New Mexico ranks:  1st overall in the United States for the highest drug use and addiction burden in 2026, according to a study by WalletHub.

** Google Search:  “2026 NM national ranking for Crime”

 New Mexico ranks:  #50 nationally in several public safety subcategories.

Property Crime: Ranked #1 – highest in the nation for property crime rates.

“Do we accept this situation and continue down the same path that brought us here, or do we take meaningful action?“   

Now is the time for every New Mexican who wants our government to hear their voices and concerns to speak directly to our elected leadership.
